2026-09-23 — The data tier reprices, and hands over a company nobody had mapped

The least glamorous layer of the AI stack had a good day. Snorkel AI, a Stanford spinout that spent years selling labelling software and then quietly turned itself into a data service, tripled to $3.5 billion on revenue that grew roughly eighteen-fold in a year — the clearest sign yet that what frontier labs are short of is not compute but the specific, expensive, human-made data and training environments that teach a model to do a job. Chasing that story into the rest of the tier turned up something better: Prime Intellect, a $1 billion company that closed its round in July with NVIDIA and Intel both on the cap table, and which no instrument on this map could have found. The company news feed only watches companies already mapped; the daily sweep looks back a day; the aggregator suspect list only reaches marks already carried. A category sweep reached it, and that instrument is now three for three.

Today in AI

Snorkel AI raised $350M at a $3.5B valuation, nearly tripling its mark, after pivoting from selling labelling software to selling the training data and reinforcement-learning environments themselves — its annualised revenue went from roughly $20M to $350M in a year — TechCrunch

US Central Command changed how it picks targets and folded in open-source data after a strike in Iran killed children at a school, upgrading the Palantir Maven system that supports those decisions — Techmeme sources, via Techmeme

Iambic Therapeutics, an AI drug-discovery company counting NVIDIA and Qatar's sovereign fund among its backers, filed to go public on Nasdaq — the sector's first real test of whether public investors will pay for AI-designed medicines still in early trials — Bloomberg

Alphabet's robotics software arm Intrinsic released Intrinsic Core as open source under Apache 2.0, handing developers building blocks for physical AI systems rather than keeping them inside Google — via Techmeme

UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham said he will use Britain's coming G20 presidency to try to broker an international agreement on AI governance, timed to the UN General Assembly — via Techmeme

Cognex agreed to buy RealSense, the 3D computer-vision company Intel spun out in July 2025, for about $600M including $500M in cash — a rare case of a spun-off chip asset finding a buyer at scale — via Techmeme

Goldman Sachs put $400M into the Israeli data-security company Cyera at no new price, extending a June round and taking Cyera past $2B raised as it moves from protecting data to policing what autonomous agents do with it — SecurityWeek

Marks moved

Company

Old → new

Basis

—

no mark moved today

Nothing on the map could be re-sourced to a newer primary. Cyera looked like a move and is not: the $400M from Goldman Sachs Alternatives is an extension of the June Series G explicitly at no new price, so the $12B June mark and its date stand and only the role changed

Snorkel AI joins at $3,500M,
verified
. The $350M Series E closed 22 September, co-led by Insight Partners and S32, against a $1.3B mark in May 2025 (company release, TechCrunch, and a Reuters exclusive — three independent carriers of the same figure, which is why it is verified on the day it happened).

Prime Intellect joins at $1,000M,
verified
, and it was two and a half months stale when found. It sells enterprises the parts needed to train their own agents instead of renting one from a frontier lab: pooled compute, an open reinforcement-learning framework, evaluation tools, picked from a marketplace rather than bought as a bundle. The $130M Series A closed 8 July led by Radical Ventures (company blog, TechCrunch); about $150M raised in total and roughly $100M of annualised revenue.

New edges

Still in talks

Stripe / OpenRouter: 35 days since the agreement, no close. Bloomberg still runs a "Stripe Finalizes Deal" headline whose own body says the close is subject to customary conditions and due "in the coming weeks". That is two and a half times the Crusoe precedent of 14 days.

OpenAI: the $1.2T round is unchanged — early, investor-initiated, unconfirmed, and explicitly tied to when the company decides to list. The $852B March round stands.

Shield AI: a Series H at $20B or more, eight days on, still with no lead, size or close.

Manus: $500M at $4B still "set to close soon", terms still fluid, six days on.

UniPat AI: thirteen days of "set to close soon" — and now a disagreement worth noting, with a Dealroom headline claiming a $1B valuation against Bloomberg's $2.5B. An aggregator contradicting the originating report is a reason to wait for the close, not to split the difference.

1X: SoftBank's talks for a majority stake at about $6B are unchanged.

Nscale: five days after filing, still no price range and no final share count. The "$35 billion" now in headlines, including the one in this map's own feed, is a reported target off Reuters and the FT — it is not in the filing, whose $100M is a fee-table placeholder. The map stays at the $14.6B Series C.

Anthropic: the S-1 is still confidential. No public prospectus, share count, price range or ticker, so nothing to mark against; the $965B May Series H stands.

Leads I could not verify

Snorkel's
alphabet
edge rests on search corroboration only. The company release names its investors, but prnewswire.com is blocked from this container, so the GV line reached this pass through two independent relays of that release rather than the page itself. The $3.5B is solid; the edge deserves a human opening the release. It is
reported
for that reason while the mark is
verified
.

Iambic Therapeutics clears the edge test and fails the valuation floor on sourcing. Its S-1 sets no share count and no price range, and the only number in circulation — a $664M "Series B-4 valuation" from April — comes from Forge Global, a secondary venue, which is aggregator-grade for a company not already carried. Add it when an amendment sets a range or the IPO prices;
nvidia —invests_in→ iambic
lands the moment it does.

Micro1 clears the floor at a $500M mark and names no on-map investor or customer. Worth flagging that the mark is a year old while its gross run rate reportedly went from $100M to $500M in eight months — the number is probably stale in the upward direction, but nothing prices it.

Heidi raised $340M including a $100M Series C led by Blackbird at $900M. Real money, Australian healthcare AI, no on-map relationship found.

A search summary invented a story again, in the same family as the 14 September note. Asked for rounds closed since the last pass, it asserted that Cognition's valuation "went from $25 billion before its May 2026 round to $48 billion after the September one" as though it were news, with only a Wikipedia link behind it. The map already carried the $48B correctly from the 8 September pass, so it served as a negative control rather than a miss — but read the result titles, never the summary paragraph.

2026-09-22 — Who Nscale's $103 billion actually belongs to

Nscale filed to go public last week claiming $103 billion of contracted business. Bloomberg has now read the filing properly, and the shape of that number is the story: two customers, Microsoft and Anthropic, are 85% of it, and only $2.6 billion of it was active at the end of August. The rest is life-of-contract value on buildings that mostly do not exist yet — and Nscale has not yet raised the money to build the Anthropic one, which Anthropic can walk away from if milestones slip. Chasing that down turned up a gap the map had carried for eleven months: Microsoft has been Nscale's anchor customer since October 2025, under a company-announced contract for roughly 200,000 GPUs worth up to $14 billion, and nobody had ever drawn the edge. Elsewhere, a sweep of the neocloud tier found Europe's newest AI-cloud unicorn, Helsinki's Verda, which joins the map today with an honest caveat attached to its valuation.

Marks moved

Company

Old → new

Basis

—

no mark moved today

No private mark could be re-sourced to a newer primary. The ticker cron ran overnight, so the ~40 live public caps are Monday's close

Verda joins the map at $1,000M,
reported
— and the number carries a warning the entity states in its own source list. Helsinki-based, founded in 2020 as DataCrunch and renamed late last year, it owns its data centres in Finland, runs them on renewable power and sells GPU capacity with a software platform on top: more than $450M raised in total, a $165M annualised revenue run rate in July, and more than 250 MW planned for 2027. The $189M Series B announced today is led by Emergence Capital, with Supermicro, MUFG Innovation Partners, the Finnish pension fund Varma and Lifeline Ventures joining (Bloomberg, Tech.eu). The caveat: no one has published a post-money. Bloomberg says "valued at more than $1 billion" and that is the whole of it, so the map carries the floor of that sentence rather than a figure anyone stated — a weaker basis than Lambda or World Labs, where a number exists but no primary states it. It upgrades the day an exact figure appears.

New edges

microsoft —rents→ nscale
— Nscale contracted roughly 200,000 NVIDIA GB300 GPUs to Microsoft across Texas, Portugal and the UK in a deal valued at up to $14B; the S-1 now puts Microsoft's share of contract value at about $43.8B. Company-announced since October 2025 and somehow never on the map, Nscale / GlobeNewswire, 2025-10-15

verda —builds_on→ nvidia
— Verda is an NVIDIA Preferred Partner and among the first clouds to deploy Vera Rubin NVL72 at scale, with capacity above 100,000 GPUs planned through 2027, Verda blog, 2026-09-22

Still in talks

Stripe / OpenRouter: 34 days since the agreement and still no close. Same August hit set, same "customary closing conditions" language. Mark stays $7B, edge stays dashed.

OpenAI: the $1.2T round picked up the FT this week alongside Bloomberg, CNBC and Forbes — better corroborated, no closer to priced. Talks are early, investor-initiated, unconfirmed by the company, and tied to when OpenAI decides to list. The $852B March round stands.

Shield AI: a Series H at $20B or more is still in negotiation, seven days on, with The Information still the only outlet carrying the figure.

Manus / Butterfly Effect: the $500M at $4B is still "close to sealing" and still unconfirmed by the company, five days on. The feed ran it as fresh yesterday; it is the same Bloomberg story.

Cohere: the Series E that would price the $20B combination has not closed, and the merger needs clearance from the Canadian Competition Bureau, the Bundeskartellamt and the European Commission. Both reasons the mark is
reported
still hold.

1X: SoftBank's talks for a majority stake at about $6B are unchanged, terms still liable to move.

Nscale: still no price range or final share count. The fee table's $100M is a filing-fee placeholder, not an offering size; the amendment that sets the range is the one to catch.

DeepSeek: no narrowing at all. A ~RMB50B round at a RMB500B (~$74B) pre-money is variously described as closed, nearing close or paused depending on the outlet, and there is still no filing, prospectus or single confirmed post-money. The $45B mark stands as the map's most-flagged number.

Leads I could not verify

Verda's valuation rests entirely on Bloomberg's "more than $1 billion". No outlet and no company page states a post-money, and verda.com is blocked from this container, so nobody here could check the company's own announcement. Someone should open it.

FuriosaAI needs a proper look. The map's $2.3B is dated July but the citation says in its own title that it is an "industry estimate" of ~KRW 3T — and that was the *target* of a pre-IPO Series D that had not priced. Reports now put the round at ~KRW 800B nearing completion at ~KRW 4T (~$3B), and one search summary asserts a completed $615M round led by Naver with no dated primary behind it anywhere in the result list. Nothing here is solid enough to move a number.

LMArena clears the valuation floor and fails the edge test: $150M Series A at a $1.7B post-money in January, led by Felicis and UC Investments, every named investor a fund. Worth noting why — its relationship to the labs is that it ranks their models, and a leaderboard is not a supply, capital or ownership link, so there is no edge to draw.

Aolani has a real NVIDIA relationship and no disclosed valuation anywhere, so it fails the floor on sourcing — the same rule that holds off Euclyd, Delos Data and Crux AI.

Writer and Turing were both checked for a newer round under the Anduril rule and both held. Watch the second one: searching "Turing" returns a $42.1M round at $600M from July with AMD Ventures and Supermicro in it, which belongs to the Japanese self-driving company of the same name, not the coding company on this map.

Yesterday's pass added a habit: when something turns up in a corner of the industry the map barely covers, go and search that whole corner rather than just the day's headlines. Today it was pointed at AI drug discovery, where the map had no companies at all despite carrying six healthcare ones, and it found two. Chai Discovery, which builds models that design antibodies and proteins from scratch for Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Novartis, raised $400M in July at a reported $3.8B with OpenAI among its backers — it joins the map today. Isomorphic Labs, Alphabet's drug-design spinout out of DeepMind, raised $2.1B in May and is the better-known company, but nobody has published what it is worth, so it stays off until someone does. Two more edges came out of re-reading old rounds nobody had read closely: Microsoft has been renting GPUs from Lambda since November, and NVIDIA quietly joined ElevenLabs' cap table in May. No mark moved, and the ticker feed has not refreshed since Friday.

Marks moved

Company

Old → new

Basis

—

no mark moved today

The ticker cron last ran Friday evening, so the ~40 live public market caps are three days old; no private mark could be re-sourced to a newer primary today

Chai Discovery joins the map at $3,800M,
reported
. Founded in March 2024 in San Francisco, it builds generative models that design antibodies, proteins and other therapeutic molecules from scratch — Chai-3 is the current one — and names Eli Lilly, Pfizer and Novartis as partners. The $400M Series C closed on 2026-07-14, led by Index Ventures with Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia and Dimension, and with existing investors including OpenAI, Thrive, Menlo and General Catalyst following (company release). That is roughly triple the $1.3B it was worth in December. The mark is
reported
and not
verified
for a precise reason: the release announces the round but never states a post-money, and the $3.8B appears only in the trade coverage (Endpoints News, FierceBiotech) — the same treatment Lambda and World Labs get. It was two months stale when found.

New edges

openai —invests_in→ chai
— OpenAI has backed Chai Discovery since its 2024 seed and is named among the existing investors joining the Series C, company release, 2026-07-14

microsoft —rents→ lambda
— a multi-year, multibillion-dollar agreement under which Lambda supplies Microsoft with tens of thousands of NVIDIA GB300 GPUs; the watchlist has wanted a primary for this since the 17th and it turns out to be the company's own announcement, Lambda blog, 2025-11-03

nvidia —invests_in→ elevenlabs
— NVIDIA's venture arm NVentures came in on the third close of the Series D, alongside BlackRock, Wellington and Santander, ElevenLabs blog, 2026-05-05

Still in talks

Stripe / OpenRouter: 33 days after the agreement, still no close. OpenRouter's own post still says customary closing conditions are outstanding and the deal should close "in the coming weeks". Mark stays $7B, edge stays dashed.

Nscale: the S-1 is public but still has no share count and no price range, so the map stays at the $14.6B Series C. A target range has formed in the coverage — a reported ~$30B and up to $35B — but neither figure is in the filing.

Anthropic: the listing slipped from October to November. The $965B May Series H stands; there is still no prospectus, ticker or price range to mark against.

Shield AI: the Series H at $20B or more is six days old and still in negotiation — no lead, no size, no close.

OpenAI: the investor-initiated approach at over $1.2T is unchanged and still unconfirmed, and now explicitly contingent on when the company decides to list.

UniPat AI: eleven days on, Alibaba's $300M lead at $2.5B is still "set to close soon".

Manus: $500M at $4B, still only the Bloomberg story of 2026-09-17 and still unconfirmed by the company.

1X: SoftBank's talks for a majority stake at about $6B are unchanged. A control-stake price is not a post-money, so even a close needs care.

Anduril: the ~$100B is still talks from July. The $61B Series H remains the latest closed round.

ElevenLabs: the reported raise of over $500M has no lead, no size and no close; a July secondary was talked about at around $22B.

Leads I could not verify

Chai Discovery's $3.8B rests on search corroboration only. The company release is in the result set with its title and date but businesswire.com is blocked from this container, so nobody here could read whether the release states a valuation. Someone should open it; if it does, the mark upgrades to
verified
.

Isomorphic Labs is the map's clearest case of a company that belongs on it and cannot go on it. Alphabet's DeepMind spinout closed $2.1B in May led by Thrive, with Alphabet, GV, CapitalG, MGX, Temasek and the UK Sovereign AI Fund in, and
alphabet —owns→ isomorphic
would land instantly. But no post-money has ever been disclosed — the only figure in circulation is an unofficial "$15–20B" — and a round size is not a valuation. Add it the day someone publishes a number.

Nscale's $30B and $35B targets reached this pass only through aggregators attributing them to Reuters and the FT. Neither original was readable here, and neither figure is in the filing.

Three AI-security rounds clear the valuation floor and fail the edge test: Upwind Security ($300M at $3.8B led by Bessemer and TCV, with Salesforce Ventures and Greylock in), Horizon3.ai ($250M at over $2B) and Exein ($270M at $1.7B). Upwind is the near miss — Salesforce Ventures would be an edge if the map had a Salesforce node.

2026-09-20 — A $7B robot company the map had never heard of

Three days ago this map added a rule: when a lead turns up a company in a category the map is thin in, go and search that whole category, not just the day's news. Today was the first real outing for that rule, and it worked. Checking a stale mark on the humanoid-robot maker 1X led to a generic sweep of humanoid robotics, and the sweep found NEURA Robotics — a German company that raised up to $1.4B in June from NVIDIA, Amazon, Qualcomm and others at a reported $7B, and that no instrument on this map could ever have reached. The news feed only watches companies already on the map; the daily sweep only looks back a day; the aggregator suspect list only reaches marks the map already carries. NEURA was invisible to all three for three months. Otherwise a quiet Sunday: no mark moved, and every open deal on the watchlist stayed open.

Marks moved

Company

Old → new

Basis

—

no mark moved today

The ticker cron does not run at weekends, so the ~40 live public market caps are still Friday's close; no private mark could be moved to a primary today

NEURA Robotics joins the map at $7,000M,
reported
. The German maker of what it calls cognitive robots — the 4NE-1 humanoid, industrial cobots, and Neuraverse, a shared app platform its robots learn from — announced a Series C of up to $1.4B on 2026-06-10, the largest round ever raised by a full-stack robotics company. The round is company-announced and the investor list is the company's own: Tether led, with NVIDIA, Amazon, Qualcomm Technologies, imec.xpand, Bosch, Schaeffler, the European Investment Bank, Lingotto Horizon and InterAlpen Partners (company release, Business Wire). The mark is
reported
rather than
verified
for a specific reason: neither the release nor the wire copy states a valuation, and the ~$7B comes from CNBC citing people familiar with the deal, which NEURA declined to confirm. Two caveats worth carrying: the full $1.4B is tranched against performance milestones, so "up to" is doing real work, and the same is true of the valuation behind it.

Four long-standing private marks were run through the standing rule from yesterday's Anduril miss — search the company's latest round, not the round the citation names — and all four held: Vultr $3.5B, AI21 $1.4B, HeyGen $500M and Lightmatter $4.4B. Vultr was the one the last pass flagged for work, and it settles: the December 2024 round led by LuminArx with AMD Ventures is still the only priced round anyone reports, and Tracxn's claimed June 2025 round appears nowhere else. Lightmatter got the other standing check, the one Biren taught — has this private company quietly listed? It has not; its shares still trade only on pre-IPO secondary venues, so the aggregator claim that its IPO is done remains unsupported.

New edges

nvidia —invests_in→ neura
— NVIDIA is named in NEURA's own Series C release, company release, 2026-06-10

amazon —invests_in→ neura
— Amazon likewise, in the same release, company release, 2026-06-10

qualcomm —invests_in→ neura
— Qualcomm Technologies likewise, in the same release, company release, 2026-06-10

Still in talks

Stripe / OpenRouter: 32 days after the agreement and still no close. Same August 16-19 hit set, same "customary closing conditions" language. The mark stays $7B and the edge stays dashed.

Shield AI: the Series H at $20B or more is still in negotiation five days after The Information reported it — no lead, no size, no close.

OpenAI: the investor-initiated approach at over $1.2T is unchanged and still unconfirmed by the company. New detail: whether it happens at all now hangs on when OpenAI decides to list, so the round and the IPO are one decision rather than two.

Anduril: the ~$100B remains talks from July, with a two-stage structure floated in which investors commit to a second, higher-priced round against financial benchmarks. The $61B Series H added yesterday is still the latest closed round.

Manus / Butterfly Effect: $500M at $4B still unconfirmed by the company; every hit relays the same Bloomberg story of 2026-09-17.

1X: SoftBank has been in talks since late August for a majority stake at about $6B. A purchase price for a control stake is not a post-money, so even a close here will need care.

UniPat AI: ten days on from Bloomberg's report, Alibaba's $300M lead at $2.5B is still "set to close soon".

Vultr: reported in March to be working with Goldman Sachs on at least $1B of debt and equity. Nothing priced.

Leads I could not verify

NEURA Robotics' $7B rests on search corroboration only. The company release and Business Wire copy are both in the result set with their titles and dates, but neither states a valuation, and the figure itself is CNBC's sourcing. Someone should read the CNBC piece and, if NEURA ever states a number, upgrade the mark.

Nscale: two outlets ran target valuations of $30B and $35B off the S-1 on 2026-09-19. Neither figure is in the filing, which still leaves the share count and price range blank. The map stays at the $14.6B Series C, and the S-1 amendment that sets a range is the thing to catch. This is the 2026-09-14 lesson again — a number asserted on top of a real document is not in the document.

1X: the carried $820M is from January 2025 and is certainly wrong, but the direction is not knowable from here. The company sought $10B in late 2025 and is reported to have raised under half its target without disclosing a price; SoftBank is discussing $6B. No primary prices it, so the number stands rather than being guessed at.

Character.AI: the $1B is an aggregator figure for a valuation that has never been repriced since Google's 2024 licence-and-rehire, with reports spanning $1B to $5B, and the company is said to be weighing a sale or a raise. It is now the weakest unflagged mark on the map.

Naive AI, added yesterday, is still sourced to one originating outlet. The Information broke it and six other outlets relay that single story; no company statement exists and the company still has no website.

Tooling: WebFetch and
build/logos.py
are both still blocked by the egress proxy (neura-robotics.com returned CONNECT 403), so NEURA has no logo until someone runs
python3 build/logos.py --only neura
from an unblocked machine. Pillow is still absent from the container;
pip install Pillow
fixed it and
build/og.py --only neura
then ran clean.

2026-09-19 — Anduril is worth twice what the map said, and the citation was right

The map carried Anduril at $30.5B, correctly sourced to the June 2025 round that set it. The trouble is that Anduril closed a $5B Series H at $61B in May, announced it on its own newsroom, and had it covered by Bloomberg, TechCrunch and CNBC the same day — four months before a pass six days ago checked this very mark, confirmed the citation, and moved on. Re-sourcing a number proves the citation is real; it never asks whether a newer round has replaced it. That is a new rule for this map, and it is the sort of miss that only housekeeping finds.

Two things happened today that the map had been waiting on without knowing it. Cohere, the Canadian enterprise AI company, signed a definitive agreement to merge with Germany's Aleph Alpha at a reported $20B — which finally explains the week of reports that Cohere was "in advanced talks to raise $2-3B at $20B". It is one company now, headquartered in both Berlin and Toronto, pitched at European and Canadian governments that want frontier-scale AI without standardising on an American or Chinese provider. The map's mark goes from $7B to $20B, though deliberately as
reported
rather than
verified
: the merger still needs regulatory approval, and the funding round that actually prices the $20B has not closed. Separately, the generic sweep turned up something more embarrassing than a stale number — Upscale AI, an AI-networking company that raised $190M at a $2B valuation back in June with NVIDIA in the round, and which this map had simply never heard of.
Leads I could not verify

Cohere's $20B rests on search corroboration only. No company release carrying the figure surfaced; it stands on SiliconANGLE plus a Reuters story read through Yahoo Finance, with the April framework coverage behind it. A human should read Cohere's own announcement and confirm whether $20B is pre- or post-Series E.

Anew Labs' $1.5B is Reuters "sources say", read through relays. The direct Reuters URL could not be captured from search, so the map cites The Next Web and DigiTimes, both of which name Reuters. Neither ByteDance nor Anew Labs has confirmed the terms.

Upscale AI's $2B is not in the company release. The round itself is company-announced (BusinessWire, 18 June), but the valuation comes from a Fortune exclusive four days later, relayed by Quartz and Yahoo. Hence
reported
, not
verified
.

Hello Robotaxi raised ~$100M at a near-$3B post-money, per TechNode and Gasgoo relaying Chinese "sources say" reports. Its operator was jointly established by Alibaba, Ant Group and CATL, so an edge is plausible — but no investor in this round is named and no reputable primary carries it. Held off the map.

Delos Data raised $100M led by Matrix Partners and Playground (with Pat Gelsinger a partner there) to build AI data-centre networking chips, but disclosed no valuation. A round size is not a valuation, so it fails the floor on sourcing.

CADDi (Tokyo manufacturing AI) raised ¥17.7B at ¥182B, about $1.2B. Clears the floor, but no relationship to anything on this map could be found.

The feed re-ran Positron's $875M round as though it were new ("Former Lambda, Groq alums secure $875M"). It is the same 10 September round; the Groq and Lambda tags are founder biographies, not relationships.

Environment: logo fetching is still blocked by the egress proxy (anewbt.com and upscaleai.com both 403'd), so
anewlabs
and
upscale
join
gimlet
,
enflame
and
modular
waiting for a run from an unblocked machine. One WebSearch call returned "unavailable" and succeeded on retry.
build/news.py
still cannot refresh the feed here, so today's own stories came from search rather than the file.

2026-09-16 — A five-year-old peak, and a mark that was half of what it should be

Yesterday's pass found a company the map thought was private. Today's worked the same instrument — the list of valuations still resting on aggregator spreadsheets — and found the two errors those sheets make in opposite directions. Helsing, the German defence-AI company, closed an $1.8B Series E at $18B in July and this map has been carrying it at $12B ever since, a third of the company missing for two months. Nuro had the reverse problem: its $8.6B was real, but it was set in November 2021, and the company has since raised a down round that values it at $6B. Eight marks in all came off spreadsheets today — three numbers changed, five kept their numbers and gained the round, the date and the confidence behind them. That takes the aggregator backlog from 22 to 13 in two days. Elsewhere, the map's Biren fix worked: the price feed picked up 6082.HK overnight and marked it at $10.6B, which is $6.6B below what the spreadsheet claimed.

Shield AI — new today: in talks for fresh funding at at least $20B, up about 60% from the $12.7B March Series G this map re-sourced yesterday.
Leads I could not verify

OpenAI / Glass Imaging rests on WSJ reporting that neither company has confirmed, so it is a role fact, not a node. A company release is the strongest kind of source, but a human should read the page.

Anthropic's Nasdaq/October plan reached me only through aggregators relaying Bloomberg and Fortune, so it is in the watchlist and not in the entity's role.

Enflame is still dark. Three consecutive weekday cron runs have now left the hand-seeded $26B untouched, which means Yahoo still serves no quote at all for 688801.SS five days after the listing. The 21 September deadline stands: after that the entity should stop claiming to be live.

Perplexity ($20B) was checked again and still cannot be resolved by search alone — the aggregators split between $20B (September 2025) and $23B (January 2026), and NVIDIA is separately reported to be in talks above $30B.

2026-09-15 — A company the map called private has been listed since January

Yesterday's pass found that two flagship valuations had the right numbers and the wrong sources. Today's found something worse, and the same instrument caught it: Biren, the Shanghai GPU designer, has traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 2 January 2026 — it was the city's first GPU stock and the first new listing of the year — and this map has carried it all that time as a private company valued off a spreadsheet. Nothing in the daily routine was ever going to notice. The news feed watches for deals, not for listing status; the round sweep looks for rounds, and a company that floated in January has none; and the aggregator figure, $17.2B, looked entirely plausible because it probably *was* a market-cap reading, taken in June. Biren now carries its ticker (6082.HK) and the price feed owns the number from tonight. Three more marks were moved off aggregator sheets onto the rounds behind them — Shield AI, Sierra and Fireworks — with no number changing. Away from the map, the week belongs to a single argument: Anthropic's Dario Amodei asked the industry to slow down, Sam Altman and Elon Musk said they agreed, and the President of the United States told them no.

Marks moved

No valuation changed today. One company changed category — from a hand-held private mark to a live ticker — and three kept their numbers while getting the round, the date and the confidence they should always have had.

The map never knew. The standing $17.23B is left untouched because the ticker cron owns a live field, but expect it to fall: the cap quoted in search is ~HK$91.6B (~$11.7B), against a 52-week high of HK$70.75 on 2026-06-25 that would have put it near $21.7B — the aggregator figure looks like a June snapshot. SCMP · Yahoo Finance/Reuters

Shield AI

$12.7B
reported
(dated 2026-06-05) → $12.7B
verified
, dated 2026-03-26

The number was right; the citation was a spreadsheet.
Still in talks

Cohere — still in advanced talks for $2-3B at $20B, the largest round ever by a private Canadian company. Not closed: the Globe and Mail says terms are not final. Note that Investing.com is now running that story under the headline "Cohere raises up to $3 billion at $20 billion valuation" — an aggregator changing the tense of a report is not a close, which is the second time in a week the same trick has appeared.

UniPat AI — Alibaba still only "set to lead" the $300M round at $2.5B, with Tencent and HSG participating; Bloomberg says the contours may yet change.
Leads I could not verify

Biren's current market cap rests on a quote page, not a filing — which is exactly why it now belongs to the price feed rather than to this digest. Tomorrow's pass checks that the cron priced 6082.HK.

Enflame is still stuck. The Monday cron's own log settles the open question from last week: it fails with
no market_cap in response
, which means Yahoo serves no quote of any kind for 688801.SS — not a cap, not even a price — so the share-count fallback added last month has nothing to work with. The fallback is not broken and the ticker is correct; Yahoo simply has not onboarded the symbol four days after the listing. The hand-seeded $26B stands. If it is still dark by 21 September, the entity should stop pretending to be live.

Shield AI, Sierra and Fireworks were each corroborated from search result titles and dates — the company release, plus two reputable outlets agreeing on the figure — because WebFetch is blocked here for essentially every company domain (fireworks.ai refused outright this pass). A human reading the three pages would settle them completely.

SSI ($32B), Scale AI ($29B) and Perplexity ($20B) remain the largest marks still resting on an aggregator, and all three have now resisted repeated searches. They need a fetched page from an unblocked machine, not another query.

2026-09-14 — The two biggest numbers on the map had the best sources, and the map didn't know

Yesterday's pass found a valuation that was a month out of date. Today's found the opposite problem, and it was sitting on the two largest companies here. OpenAI ($852B) and Anthropic ($965B) were both carried on a valuation-aggregator spreadsheet with a vague "July 2026" date and a middling confidence rating — when each number had come straight from the company's own announcement months earlier and was never in doubt. Nobody had ever checked, precisely because nobody doubted the figures. Five marks in all were re-grounded on company releases today — OpenAI, Anthropic, Waymo, Ramp and VAST Data — and not one number changed; what changed is that the map now shows where they came from and how old they really are. In the wider world, the week's dominant story is not money but oversight: Anthropic's Dario Amodei committed to letting outside evaluators work inside the company with employee-level access, OpenAI said it would match him, and Sam Altman separately ruled out taking OpenAI public this year.

New edges

nvidia —invests_in→ vastdata
— NVIDIA took part in VAST Data's $1B Series F at a $30B valuation in April 2026, alongside Fidelity and NEA, with Drive Capital and Access Industries leading. It was already the headline of CNBC's coverage of the round, and the map simply never carried it. Verified, solid line — and it puts NVIDIA's money next to the storage layer that its own training clusters sit on. CNBC, 2026-04-22

Still in talks

Cohere / $20B — re-checked today: still advanced talks for $2–3B, still "could close as early as next week", and the Globe and Mail is explicit that terms are not final. Worth noting that the Canadian government's participation is the CA$240M it already committed in December 2024 under its Sovereign AI Compute Strategy, not fresh money. Map stays at $7B.

UniPat AI / Alibaba — re-checked: Bloomberg still has Alibaba "set to lead" a $300M round at $2.5B with Tencent and HSG participating, and still "set to close soon". No close, no node.

Stripe / OpenRouter — re-checked for the fourth pass running: every hit is still the 16–19 August agree-to-acquire coverage, plus OpenRouter's own "joining Stripe" post. Nearly four weeks and no close notice from either party. OpenRouter stays
reported
, the
owns
edge stays dashed.

Anduril / ~$100B, Mercor / $20B, Thinking Machines, Surge, Fal, Physical Intelligence, Nscale pre-IPO — all searched or checked, none closed.

Anthropic IPO — the S-1 is still confidential, with no public prospectus, price range, share count or underwriter list. Altman's comments this week were about OpenAI, not Anthropic, and change nothing here.

Leads I could not verify

Every mark above rests on search-result corroboration, not a fetched page — this container's egress proxy blocks openai.com, anthropic.com and essentially every news and company domain. In each case the company's own release appeared in search results under its own title and date, with at least one top-tier outlet agreeing on the figure, which is the standard this project uses when the page cannot be opened. A human with an unblocked browser should read the five release pages.

Dogotix, XPeng's robotics arm, reportedly raised over $900M at a $6.3B valuation, described as China's largest private embodied-intelligence round. It clears the valuation floor but XPeng has no node here, so there is no edge to hang it on, and the figure came from a search summary rather than a primary. Added to the watchlist.

Safe Superintelligence ($32B) could not be re-sourced: every hit for the figure is an aggregator, and NVIDIA's $5B in July 2026 is reported at or near the same mark rather than as an up-round. It joins Perplexity and Scale AI as marks that need a fetched page rather than another search.

A WebSearch summary fabricated a story this pass: asked for acquisitions announced on 13 September, it asserted that NVIDIA had agreed to buy Arm from SoftBank for $40B "announced on September 13" — the abandoned 2020 deal, re-dated from an archive link in the results. The links were fine; the prose on top of them invented the date. Nothing was acted on, and the failure mode is now recorded in the project rules.

Enflame still shows a hand-seeded $26B. The market-cap cron runs on weekday evenings and this pass ran at 11:03 UTC, before Monday's run — so the fix committed on Friday still has not been tested. Tomorrow's pass will tell whether the fallback works or is broken.

2026-09-13 — Databricks was worth $56B more than this map said, for a month

Sunday is a thin news day — the ticker feed has not refreshed since Friday and the headline feed is a day stale — so this pass spent its time digging through the map's own backlog instead, and found something worse than anything in the news. Databricks, the data platform most large companies train and serve AI on, closed a $5 billion round at a $190 billion valuation on 13 August. Bloomberg, CNBC and TechCrunch all ran it the same day. This map kept showing $134 billion — a real Databricks number, but two rounds out of date — for the next month, because the figure came from a valuation-aggregator spreadsheet that looked plausible and nobody re-checked. Three more aggregator marks (Cohere, Anduril, Figure AI) turned out to have the right numbers behind the wrong sources and dates, and were re-grounded on the actual rounds. In the wider world: the US Senate started drafting a law that would let the government block AI models it judges unsafe, and Google quietly finished a $1.5B-plus deal to hire away an AI coding startup's staff without buying the company.

Anthropic published its periodic report on people misusing Claude, and the standout case is grim: a Yemen-based weapons group ran several copies of Claude Code at once — one writing guidance software for missiles, one researching, one reviewing the first one's work — and came back to it within hours of a failed test-fire to debug the rocket. Separately, the money around Anthropic itself kept getting larger: NVIDIA is in early talks to anchor its IPO with as much as $10B.

Harvey, the AI that drafts and reviews contracts for law firms, raised $550 million and is now worth $15.5 billion — roughly double what it was worth in March, on annual revenue above $400 million. Clay, which uses agents to find and chase sales leads, went from $3.1 billion a year ago to $7.1 billion. Both are the same story: software that does one profession's paperwork is being priced like infrastructure. The third change on the map today is an admission rather than news — Suno, the text-to-song company, has been carried at $2.5 billion since June while it was actually worth $5.4 billion, because the mark came from an aggregator's spreadsheet and nobody re-read it. Away from valuations, Amazon put a number on its escape from NVIDIA, DeepSeek hired a bank for a Shanghai listing, and this pass ran with one hand tied: the search tool that does all verification here failed on roughly half its calls and then went dark entirely, so several watchlist checks did not happen.

Leads I could not verify

The search tool failed for most of this pass. Roughly half of all WebSearch calls returned "unavailable", and from about 12:00 UTC every call did. The three marks above were verified before that; the routine watchlist re-checks and most of the generic "closed rounds since the last pass" sweep were not run. Treat today's coverage as partial and re-sweep tomorrow.

Today's news is missing entirely.
data/news.json
was last written by its cron at 2026-09-09 14:43 UTC, and
news.google.com
is CONNECT-403 from this container, so
build/news.py
cannot be re-run here. Every story above is from 9 September.

DeepSeek's real valuation. Reuters reports its first external round closed at ~$7.4B (Tencent ¥10B, CATL ¥5B, the National AI fund, founder Liang Wenfeng ~¥20B), but the post-money is quoted as ¥350-400B ($52-59B) before close and "just under $60B" after, with a separate ~$75B round described as either raising or paused. No clean primary, so the map still shows the old $45B aggregator figure — which is certainly now too low. This one wants a human with access to the filings.

Clay's mark rests on search corroboration only — the company announcement appears via a press wire relayed by Yahoo Finance, with SiliconANGLE, Inc. and BetaKit agreeing on $115M at $7.1B.

2026-09-09 — The map finds out who owns OpenRouter

Three passes ran today. The last one went looking for deals the news feed had under-read, and found that the map had been wrong about two companies for weeks: Stripe agreed on 19 August to buy OpenRouter — the switchboard that routes traffic to nearly every model on this map — for more than $7 billion, and the atlas was still carrying OpenRouter at the $1.3 billion it was worth in May. In the same sweep, SpaceX's $60 billion purchase of Cursor turned out to have actually closed on 14 August, while the map still said "acquiring". Stripe joins as a node so the ownership line has somewhere to start. Three more valuations that had been resting on an aggregator's spreadsheet — Nscale, Thinking Machines and xAI — now point at the rounds and filings they actually came from. Earlier passes today added Gimlet Labs and Higgsfield and cut Canva from $65B to $31B.
Earlier passes today added Gimlet Labs ($3B) and Higgsfield ($5.4B), re-marked Canva $65B → $31B, Groq $6.9B → $3.5B and Cyera $9B → $12B.

New edges

stripe —owns→ openrouter
— Stripe agreed to buy the model gateway for over $7B; it keeps operating independently. Stripe newsroom, 2026-08-19. reported (dashed until the close is confirmed).

xai —owns→ cursor
— SpaceX's $60B all-stock purchase of Cursor's parent Anysphere, the largest startup acquisition on record, closed 2026-08-14; Cursor is now a subsidiary in the SpaceXAI division. CNBC, 2026-06-16. verified.

nvidia —invests_in→ nscale
— NVIDIA participated in the $2B Series C. Nscale company release, 2026-03-09. verified.

anthropic —rents→ nscale
— ~$45B over six years for about 460 MW of Vera Rubin capacity at Nscale's West Virginia campus, online end-2027. Bloomberg/CNBC/TechCrunch, 2026-08-26. reported — neither company has published terms.

Still in talks

Thinking Machines: ~$1B at a $40B pre led by Accel, with NVIDIA discussing roughly half of a reported $5-6B total. Down from the $50B+ explored last year, and still unsigned.

Nscale: seeking ~$3.5B pre-IPO — up to $1.5B of convertibles led by Third Point at a reported $30B cap, plus ~$2B from NVIDIA — ahead of a possible US listing. Bloomberg/TechCrunch, 2026-09-04.

Moonshot AI: Hong Kong IPO of $3-5B at over $50B, BofA coordinating with CICC, Deutsche Bank and Goldman; application due by 30 September. Carried at the $20B May round until it prices.

DeepSeek, Mercor, Physical Intelligence, Surge, Fal and Harvey are all unchanged from the earlier passes.

Wonderful raised $550M at $5B (Bessemer, Index, Insight, IVP, with Salesforce participating) — real mark, but every named backer is a VC or an off-map company, so it fails the second admission gate.

Leads I could not verify

The Stripe/OpenRouter close. Stripe said in August the deal would close "in a few weeks"; no completion notice surfaced today. The edge and the mark stay
reported
until one does. The $7B+ figure is Bloomberg and The Information — Stripe's own release discloses no terms.

The SpaceX/Cursor completion date. The agreement is solid (CNBC, 2026-06-16); the 2026-08-14 close rests on secondary corroboration only. A human should confirm it before the edge is treated as settled.

xAI's place on the map is now structurally wrong, not just stale. It is not an independent company: SpaceX absorbed it and the merged firm has traded on Nasdaq as SPCX since June. The map still shows
xai
as a company at its $250B merger leg. Making it a division of a listed
spacex
node moves every xAI edge, so it is filed for a human rather than done here.

Nothing was fetched. WebFetch remains blocked by this environment's egress proxy for essentially every news and company domain, so every mark above rests on search-result corroboration — a company release or filing appearing in results with its title and date, plus a reputable outlet agreeing on the figure.

build/logos.py
still cannot reach the favicon service (403), so Stripe has no logo, alongside Gimlet Labs and Higgsfield. Pillow was also missing from the container this run;
pip install Pillow
fixed it and only the seven affected share cards were regenerated.
