Notes

Lasers, optical transceivers and compound-semiconductor materials; the other half of the AI optical supply chain beside Lumentum. Data Center and Communications was about 79% of a recent quarter's revenue, with that segment at roughly $1.62B and up about 59% year on year, against $1.81B of total fiscal Q3 2026 revenue. NVIDIA put $2B into it on 2026-03-02, half of a $4B photonics investment split evenly with Lumentum, each leg paired with a multi-year strategic agreement carrying a multibillion-dollar NVIDIA purchase commitment and non-exclusive future capacity access rights; NVIDIA stated no figure for the purchase commitment, so only the equity leg is drawn, and Coherent said it would use the money to build out its domestic manufacturing footprint. Added to the map on 2026-11-03 off the Marvell/Lumentum deal, which repriced the layer: Northland upgraded Coherent to Outperform on 2026-11-02 on the value of scarce AI optics. With fiscal Q1 2027 results on 2026-11-04 it disclosed a PhotonLink agreement worth about $20B over five years with a major AI customer it did not name, expects more than $100M of PhotonLink revenue in the March quarter with the ramp in early calendar 2028, and reported record quarterly revenue of $2.37B, up about 50% year on year; the shares still fell about 16% the next day in a broad AI-hardware selloff. The customer is unnamed, so the deal draws no edge. The mark is the market cap and belongs to the ticker feed, which took the field over on 2026-11-04 and replaced the hand seed the 2026-11-03 pass had read off a quote page.
