Notes

Meta's in-house AI accelerator line - the Meta Training and Inference Accelerator - and the fourth hyperscaler silicon programme on this map alongside Google TPU, AWS Trainium and Microsoft Maia. It is co-developed with BROADCOM: on 2026-04-14 the two announced a multi-year, multi-generation partnership running through 2029 under which Broadcom supplies its XPU platform, chip design, advanced packaging and Ethernet networking for MTIA, with an initial commitment of more than 1 GW described as the first phase of a multi-gigawatt rollout; Hock Tan agreed to leave Meta's board at the same time. In March 2026 Meta set out four generations - MTIA 300, 400, 450 and 500 - for deployment across 2026 and 2027 on roughly a six-month cadence, with the 300 already in production for ranking and recommendation work and the 450 due for mass deployment in early 2027. Reuters reported on 2026-07-09 that production of the newest part would begin that September and that TSMC manufactures the chips even though Broadcom does the design, which is why the TSMC leg is reported rather than verified. The process node is contested: the April release says the new chips will be the first custom AI silicon on a 2 nm process, while trade coverage of the September production start says 3 nm - the two statements most likely describe different generations, so the map records neither as a fact. Deployment counts for the earlier MTIA 100 and 200 series rest on a single trade outlet and are not carried here.
