Open-source agent lab. Hermes is a model-agnostic coding and task agent released under the MIT licence - enterprises pick their own models and run it on their own cloud or on-premises - and it has been downloaded more than 22 million times since February 2026. The October 2026 Series B funds Hermes for Businesses, the paid enterprise tier adding SSO and compliant access controls, plus a mobile app; Hermes itself stays free and open. Annualised revenue was about $36M in mid-September 2026, with the company projecting past $100M by year-end, on total capital of roughly $158M after a $50M Paradigm-led Series A in April 2025. The $1.5B mark is Wall Street Journal reporting, not a company figure: Nous published the round and its investor list but deliberately did not disclose a valuation, so this stays `reported`. Note a live number disagreement - Techmeme's summary of the same WSJ story says $1.2B, against $1.5B in the titles of every relay and in TechCrunch's July report of the same target.
