Toronto startup that etches a single AI model directly into silicon, so the weights live in on-chip ROM rather than in external memory; its first chip ran a version of Meta's Llama 3.1. Founded in 2023, it had raised about $219M of venture funding. AMD signed a definitive agreement to acquire it on 2026-08-06 without a price and disclosed the figure in its 10-Q filed 2026-11-04: approximately $2.9B in cash and stock, including up to approximately $1.4B of contingent consideration. The cash and stock split was not disclosed. AMD expects the deal to close in its fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 subject to regulatory approval, and says it will pair the technology with Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs and the Helios rackscale systems, with the team joining its AI group.
