Enterprise personal assistant: every employee gets a "Townie" with its own @town.com address, wired into email, calendar, Slack, documents, WhatsApp, desktop and web, which triages an inbox, runs scheduled routines and hands work off to other employees' Townies across a team. Founded 2024 by Jean-Denis Greze, previously Plaid's CTO, and Tony Vincent, previously a Google applied-AI product director; out of beta on 2026-06-03 and at a few million dollars of annualised revenue within weeks, on the company's own figure. The $1B comes from a $108M Series B co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures with a16z and First Round returning, taking total funding past $160M. The round is also the sharp end of the personal-agent scramble: Index Ventures signed a term sheet to lead it at the same $1B in August, then withdrew, as did Conviction, after Instinct - which Index also backs - complained of a conflict of interest (Upstarts Media, 2026-09-03). Neither company would confirm that account. Which models the Townies run on is not disclosed.
