San Francisco lab (founded 2024 by Diogo Almeida, Erik Gafni and Sasha Sheng) building what it calls System One models - Jev takes state in, evaluates declared questions in parallel and returns typed Choice, Score and Boolean answers with probabilities, rather than generating text. It is sold only as a hosted API, with no published weights, and reached developers mainly through Vercel's AI Gateway, where it became the fastest-adopted model launch in the gateway's history - more than twice as many paid teams in 24 hours as any previous launch. Listed at $0.042 per million input tokens with output unmetered; the company claims 70-500ms responses against 3-329 seconds for frontier LLMs on the same structured task, and up to 193x faster and 444x cheaper, all on its own benchmarks and not independently verified. It says about a third of the Fortune 500 use Jev, where a16z's own announcement says about 25%. The $870M Series A at $7.5B came 24 days after Jev's launch and is a roughly 37x step up from the $200M seed mark of a month earlier.
