General Compute

GPU neoclouds · US

General Compute was valued at $800M as of 27 October 2026 (reported). Source: TechCrunch, General Compute raises $100 million Series A, countering the neocloud disaster narrative ($100M co-led by Blackbird and Abstract Ventures at an $800M post-money, up from $60M after the May seed; chips from SambaNova, Positron and Cerebras; $400M Upper90 facility).

San Francisco neocloud that rents inference capacity on silicon other than NVIDIA's: it buys accelerators from SambaNova, Positron and Cerebras, finances them with debt, and racks them in other people's data centres and converted bitcoin-mining sites rather than building its own, selling the result as bare metal or as a tokens-per-second service.

Notes

San Francisco neocloud that rents inference capacity on silicon other than NVIDIA's: it buys accelerators from SambaNova, Positron and Cerebras, finances them with debt, and racks them in other people's data centres and converted bitcoin-mining sites rather than building its own, selling the result as bare metal or as a tokens-per-second service. The $800M is the post-money TechCrunch reported on a $100M Series A announced 2026-10-27 and co-led by Blackbird and Abstract Ventures, up from about $60M after a May 2026 seed; the company announced the round and its leads on X but has published no valuation, so the mark is press-reported. A customer contract worth about $100M of annual recurring revenue preceded the round, a $400M Upper90 debt facility funds the buildout, and a separate reported $400M agreement covers SambaNova chips - accounts differ on whether that one is a purchase or financing. Signed on 2026-10-20 to buy Positron Atlas systems and committed to the next-generation Titan systems, planning to run prompt prefill on GPUs and hand token generation to Positron silicon. First customer deployments are expected in Q1 2027, with about 75 MW targeted for deployment that year against roughly 200 MW of power the founders say they can reach. Founded by Finn Puklowski and Jason Goodison.
