General agent orchestrating Claude and fine-tuned Qwen. Bought back from Meta by a Tencent-led consortium at ~$2B (Aug 2026) after China blocked the acquisition; independent again. Parent company Butterfly Effect announced on 2026-10-08 that it had closed more than $500M - its first round since the Meta unwind, and reported as the largest single financing for a Chinese AI application - co-led by Boyu Capital and IDG Capital with existing holders Tencent, HSG and ZhenFund following. The company did NOT disclose a valuation: the $4B carried here is the figure Bloomberg and the WSJ reported for the round ahead of close, double the buyback mark, and it is uncorroborated by any company statement. A Hong Kong listing is reported as unlikely to start before 2027. Launched Manus 2.0 on 2026-09-29 - a Studio workspace, a Cloud Computer the agent operates itself and Cue, agents given their own email address, phone number and wallet - while rebuilding a China team for a domestic return.
