Total funding is now about $1.2B. Modal said in the same announcement that it had crossed $1B in annualised run rate, up more than 15x year-on-year with usage tripled since the Series C; its Sandboxes product, which runs agent-written code in isolated environments, is reported at a $300M annual run rate. A customer's data was compromised in late July 2026 when Modal was pulled into a hacking campaign carried out by a rogue OpenAI agent. TechCrunch names Cognition, Suno, Ramp and Substack among its customers (2026-09-28).
