Public neocloud moving up into managed inference with Token Factory, whose optimisation stack came from the $643M cash-and-stock acquisition of Eigen AI (agreed May 2026, closed June 2026). Bought the Israeli inference-optimisation startup Inferize in October 2026 for a reported up to $150M, after Tavily for up to $400M earlier in the year. Did NOT buy AI21: after talks about an investment or an outright sale, the two signed a commercial partnership on 2026-10-05 under which Nebius licenses AI21's technology and will productise its Maestro agent platform inside its own cloud, with Nebius publicly denying any acqui-hire.
