2026-10-24 - SK Hynix calls off the Solidigm listing
Nothing on the map changed price today. What did change is a fact the map had wrong: SK Hynix announced that Solidigm, its American flash-memory arm, has stopped work on both a pre-listing fundraising and a US stock market debut that bankers were preparing at up to $150B. The map's page for SK Hynix had been telling readers the opposite - that the listing was moving a step closer - so that prose is now rewritten. Elsewhere China cleared its two best-known model makers to ship abroad, and Washington moved to restrict money going the other way.
Today in AI
- SK Hynix says Solidigm has discontinued its review of a US listing and the pre-IPO round that would have preceded it, blaming market conditions and its own share price; the parent's shares rose 4.4% in Seoul on the news - Wall Street Journal link.
- The US Treasury proposed a rule to restrict American investment in artificial intelligence and supercomputing in China, Russia and other "countries of concern" - Associated Press link.
- Chinese state media say DeepSeek and MiniMax are the first companies cleared under a new export regime to open-source their models and license them abroad; MiniMax confirmed its own registration, DeepSeek has said nothing - Bloomberg link.
- Anthropic and the London private-equity firm Hg have agreed to start a consultancy by the end of the year that would place AI engineers and consultants inside European companies - Financial Times link.
- OpenAI opened its Decisions API to everyone, adding voice and images and charging $0.10 per million tokens of input with nothing charged for what the model writes back - TechCrunch link.
- SK Telecom's new data-centre arm SK Hyper is talking to technology firms and investors about paying for 15 gigawatts of Korean AI capacity by 2035, the first third of it costing a reported $350B - Bloomberg link.
- OpenAI suspected the three researchers it fired of passing internal model designs to an outside AI safety researcher, partly over disappearing Signal messages - Wall Street Journal link.
Marks moved
No mark moved today. No round closed, no acquisition was signed and no listing priced. Four company pages were corrected instead: SK Hynix, MiniMax, DeepSeek and Anthropic.
New edges
None. The two relationships in today's news both fail on the far end: Anthropic's consultancy partner Hg is a private-equity firm with no node, and the formal-verification work Anthropic published with Theorem has no valuation anywhere, so neither has anything to connect to.
Still in talks
- OpenAI: the up-to-$30B raise at a $1.25 trillion pre-money is still unsigned; signatures were targeted for the end of the coming week.
- Anthropic's IPO: still confidential, still nothing on the SEC's public database, now a day past the date a week-of-9-November roadshow would have required.
- Nscale's IPO: price range and share count still blank, formal marketing not started.
- Cohere and Aleph Alpha: no regulatory approval and no close; the September agreement still says "later in 2026".
- DeepSeek: about 100 billion yuan raised and still no post-money anyone has published, so the map stays at $51,820M.
- Amazon and Decart, NVIDIA and Reflection AI, Stripe and OpenRouter, Lambda, Baseten, Mercor, Shield AI, Firmus, Agility Robotics, Anduril's tender: checked, all unchanged.
Leads I could not verify
- Everything above rests on search corroboration. No primary page can be opened from this sandbox, so SK Hynix's release was read from its title and date in the result list, with nine outlets agreeing. A human should open the SK Hynix page to confirm the wording, since "discontinue the review" is not the same as cancelling the listing.
- Pathos AI's $237M Series E at $3B appears in one Axios item and nowhere else; search finds only an August report of a $300M raise still in progress. The cancer-drug developer clears the valuation floor but has no counterparty on this map, so it is held off either way.
- Glean almost moved on a phantom round. One tracker prints a $450M Series G at $12B last August, another a "$768M growth financing"; $768M is Glean's total ever raised, and the real latest round is still the June 2025 Series F at $7.2B. A separate report that Citigroup has invested is worth a human's eye.
- The DeepSeek half of China's export clearance comes from a CCTV-affiliated account only, and DeepSeek has not responded to Reuters. MiniMax's own statement is the solid half.
- Anthropic and Hg is sources-based reporting that neither party has announced.
