2026-10-21 - The cloud where AI agents run code is now worth a billion

When an AI agent writes code, something has to run it somewhere safe, in a throwaway machine that cannot touch anything that matters. Daytona sells those machines, and yesterday it raised $60M at a $1B valuation with Anthropic, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Cursor and Cognition named as customers; a sweep of the rest of that layer found no competitor with a disclosed valuation at all. Eka Robotics joins too, at $1.45B for robot hands that learn by feel rather than by watching. Elsewhere Salesforce spent $5.7B on marketing software, and Anthropic is close to committing another $45B to one landlord.

Marks moved

Daytonanew → $1,000M

$60M Series B at a $1B post-money led by FirstMark, about $50M of it from existing investors, total funding about $91M; 2026-10-20, verified on the company post with Fortune and Tech.eu agreeing on the figure and the lead.

Eka Roboticsnew → $1,450M

$150M Series A co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and F-Prime, seed leads Obvious Ventures and E14 Fund returning, Samsung Next joining; 2026-10-20, verified on the company post for the round and TechCrunch for the $1.45B post-money.

New edges

Not drawn: Daytona's angels include the founders of Stripe, Perplexity and Mercor, but a personal cheque is not the company's money. Factory and Databricks announced a partnership in which Droids sell through Databricks Marketplace and pick models through its gateway; marketplace distribution is not an edge here, and the gateway leg would stretch routes, so it is a human call.
