2026-10-06 — A $3.2B neocloud nobody here had heard of, and AI21's quiet collapse

The map gained one company today and lost an acquisition it had been waiting five passes for. PaleBlueDot AI, a Palo Alto outfit renting out more than 220,000 GPUs with $5bn of signed customer contracts, turns out to have tripled its valuation to $3.2bn five days ago without any instrument on this map noticing — it is not a node, so the company news feed cannot see it, and its round is too old for a one-day sweep. Meanwhile the deal everyone expected between Nebius and the Israeli lab AI21 did not happen: instead of being bought, AI21 cut more than 60% of its staff, stopped selling the models it was founded on, and licensed its remaining product to Nebius. No valuation on the map moved today, which after a day like that is the honest answer rather than a dull one.

—Nothing moved

Eleven watchlist rounds were re-checked and every one is still in talks. DeepSeek's round grew but published no post-money, so its flagged $45B stands; AI21's restructuring is strong evidence its $1.4B is wrong but evidence of direction is not a number.
