2026-10-02 — Broadcom agrees to lend Anthropic $42B to lease Broadcom's own chips
Anthropic's IPO prospectus — reported but still not on the public SEC database — shows Broadcom agreeing to lend Anthropic up to $42 billion, money Anthropic will spend leasing computing capacity from Broadcom itself. That makes one company Anthropic's chip supplier, its landlord and its banker at once, and the filing says so in a conflict-of-interest warning. It is the clearest example yet of the circular financing running through AI infrastructure, where the firms selling the hardware are also funding the purchases. Elsewhere, Tencent paid around $7 billion to rent 100,000 American AI chips it is not allowed to buy — leasing them inside Oracle's Southeast Asian data centres instead — and OpenAI signed a revenue-sharing deal to build a model that drives Synopsys' chip-design software.

Marks moved
—no marks movedEvery watchlist round re-checked today is still in talks. Four live tickers refreshed on the Friday cron.
New edges
anthropic —rents→ broadcom — a five-year, $125.2B commitment for TPU computing capacity with Broadcom as lessor, from the reported IPO prospectus. reported, 2026-10-01. sourcebroadcom —commits_to→ anthropic — up to $42B of convertible notes, about a third of that commitment, convertible into Anthropic equity, with Broadcom free to bring in a financing partner. reported, 2026-10-01. sourcetencent —rents→ oracle — a reported $7B five-year lease of ~100,000 AI chips across Oracle's Southeast Asian sites, ~30% payable upfront; Tencent's largest overseas compute deal. reported, 2026-10-01. sourcesynopsys —builds_on→ openai — multi-year agreement to co-develop GPT-Synopsys, with revenue sharing and joint go-to-market; no figure disclosed. verified, 2026-09-30. sourcetencent —invests_in→ infinigence, baidu —invests_in→ infinigence, zhipu —invests_in→ infinigence — all three named as backers of the new node below in one Bloomberg sentence. reported, 2026-10-01. source
New node
Infinigence AI joins at $2,100M (reported). A Shanghai AI cloud, founded out of Tsinghua in 2023, that pools capacity from 53 third-party data centres across NVIDIA, AMD, Huawei Ascend and domestic silicon and schedules work across the mix — flexibility that is a necessity in a market where export controls decide what hardware exists. It has filed confidentially for a Hong Kong IPO targeting H1 2027.
Still in talks
- Stripe / OpenRouter — 44 days since the agreement, still no close notice. Stripe now says it does not comment on "rumors or speculation"; the map carries OpenRouter at $7B, the floor of a $7-8B reported range.
- Modal has a named lead for the first time: Accel, for a reported $750M at $15.75B. Baseten is unchanged at a reported ~$26B. Neither has closed.
- DeepSeek — the open round's size is now reported as ~$1.5B at ~$71B, a fifth figure for the same raise, and the Shanghai listing has drifted to as early as Q2 2027. The $45B mark stands.
- Shield AI at ≥$20B (17 days), Mirendil at ~$5B (10 days), Legora at ~$8.5B pre (10 days), UniPat at $2.5B (22 days), Manus at $4B (15 days), 1X / SoftBank at ~$6B, OpenAI at ~$1.4T — all still negotiating, none with a close.
- NVIDIA / Hugging Face — a month after the 8-K, NVIDIA still has not decided whether the deal is notifiable in Europe. Nebius / AI21 talks continue with no terms disclosed.
- Nscale — 14 days after the public S-1, still no share count and no price range.
Leads I could not verify
- Anthropic's prospectus is still not on EDGAR, four days after Reuters obtained it. Both Broadcom edges and the four compute edges added on 09-30 therefore rest on reporting about a filing, not a filing this map has read. A human should check EDGAR; all six go
verified when it posts. - Infinigence's $2.1B is Bloomberg prose stating a current valuation ahead of the offering, not a published post-money — and the Hong Kong filing that would settle it is confidential. Search corroboration only.
- Apollo and Blackstone are reported to have arranged a separate ~$35B private credit package for the same TPU purchases, $30B of it backed by a Broadcom support agreement. Neither has a node, so no edge — but a human should check whether this and the $42B convertible describe the same money before either figure is restated.
- CScale is real after all, correcting yesterday's note that the name might be wrong: a $145M Series C out of stealth on 09-30 with NVIDIA and Intel Capital as first strategic investors. No post-money is disclosed anywhere, so it is held off on sourcing, not on relevance.
- Kunlunxin, Baidu's chip unit, is reported to be targeting a ~$50B Hong Kong listing — more than its parent's market cap. Confidential filing, nothing priced.
- Clio / Learned Hand — the feed has carried this acquisition twice and two days of searching still cannot find it. Clio's August hire of Casetext's co-founder to lead a judiciary push makes it plausible; Learned Hand's largest known contract is $300K, far below the floor either way.
- Tekever ($580M at $6.4B) and Enveda Biosciences ($311M at $2B) both clear the valuation floor and name no on-map counterparty. Tekever's way in would be a sourced rivalry with Helsing; none was found.
